Before you travel
If you are planning a long trip, it is advisable to share your dates with the clinic before your next check-up. Which aligners to take with you can be planned with your orthodontist according to the length of your trip.
Travel kit
- Aligner case (never wrap aligners in a napkin)
- Your previous aligner (as a spare)
- Your next aligner, if your orthodontist recommended it
- Toothbrush, toothpaste and floss
- A chewie (aligner seater), if you have one
- The clinic's phone number: +90 312 911 60 36
What to do if an aligner is lost
- Contact the clinic by phone or WhatsApp and tell them which aligner you were wearing.
- Unless your orthodontist advises otherwise, you usually go back to the previous aligner; this aims to stop the teeth drifting back.
- Do not move on to the next aligner on your own; your orthodontist decides which aligner to wear.
- Whether a new aligner is needed and how it will be provided is planned with the clinic.
If an aligner breaks or cracks
Even a small crack can affect how the aligner fits and how the teeth move. If a broken aligner irritates your gums or tongue, stop wearing it. Taking a photo and sharing it with the clinic helps decide how to proceed. For common situations, see the problems and solutions page.
Practical tips on the road
| Situation | Tip |
|---|---|
| Meals on a plane | Put the aligners in their case, rinse your mouth with water after eating and put them back in |
| Different time zone | Save your aligner change day as a phone reminder |
| Hotels and restaurants | Do not leave aligners on a table or tray; most losses happen this way |
| Hot weather | Do not leave aligners in the sun or in a hot car; they can lose their shape |
Longer trips
If you will be abroad for several weeks or months, plan ahead so that check-ups are not missed. Depending on how your teeth are progressing, your orthodontist may give you more than one aligner or adjust the check-up date around your trip. It is also important to monitor the fit yourself: if you see a clear gap between the aligner and a tooth, contact the clinic.
- Tell the clinic your travel dates at least a few weeks in advance.
- Note down aligner numbers and change dates.
- If an attachment comes off, keep wearing your aligners and contact the clinic.
- If a video call is needed, prepare clear photos of your aligners and teeth.
Airports and security checks
Clear aligners and their case can be carried in hand luggage. Putting the aligners in their case before the security check stops them being forgotten in the trays. On long flights you can keep the aligners in and take them out only to eat. Check the airline's hand luggage rules for liquids such as toothpaste and mouthwash. Making a habit of putting your aligner in its case every time you take it out prevents most losses while travelling.
For children and teenagers
Aligners are lost more often on school trips, camps and summer holidays. Putting an aligner case in your child's bag, agreeing in advance where the aligners go during meals and writing contact details on the case all help.
Back in Ankara
If your aligner wear was interrupted while travelling, tell your orthodontist at the check-up. The plan is updated if necessary. For daily wear, see the wear and care guide.
The clinic is in the Park Oran Office building in Oran (Shop No. 70, Kudüs Street, Çankaya) and is open Monday–Saturday 09:00–20:00. Our team includes staff who speak English, German and Russian.
