Can clear aligner treatment be continued with another provider?

In many cases yes, but the current situation needs to be assessed first. Because the digital plan and aligner production in Invisalign treatment run through the manufacturer's system, transferring treatment to a new provider may require a process carried out through the previous provider and the manufacturer. How this works and how long it takes varies from case to case.

Records you can request from your previous provider

• A treatment summary and the aligner stage you are currently at
• Initial X-rays and photos
• Digital scan and treatment plan information
• Details of any interproximal reduction (IPR) and attachments
• The planned retention method

What should you bring to the examination?

• Any unused aligner sets you have
• The aligner you are currently wearing and its case
• The last few aligners from earlier stages, if you have them
• Your previous provider's contact details

What is assessed at the examination?

The fit of the aligners, whether the teeth are progressing according to plan, the condition of the attachments and gum health are checked. A new digital scan is taken if needed. At the end of the assessment, these options are usually discussed:

1. Continuing with the current plan
2. Preparing an interim correction plan (additional aligner set)
3. Re-planning the treatment

If your treatment uses another aligner system

Clear aligner treatment can be carried out with systems from different manufacturers. If your treatment uses a system other than Invisalign, whether the current plan can continue with the same system or whether new planning is needed is discussed after the examination and a review of your records. It therefore helps to bring the name of the system you use and your previous provider's details.

What you can do before moving to Ankara

• Tell your previous provider your moving date and ask for a copy of your records.
• Note how many aligners you have left and which aligner you are on.
• Carry your aligners in their case while travelling and keep your previous aligner with you.
• Book an examination as soon as possible after you arrive in Ankara.
