If you live outside Ankara or abroad, have a busy work schedule, or are simply looking for a first answer to the question "Can my case be treated with clear aligners?", an online preliminary assessment can be a good place to start. The photos you send are reviewed by the orthodontist and you receive general feedback.
The preliminary assessment step by step
- Take the photos. Take the five poses below in daylight, without filters. For detailed tips, you can use the checklist on the how to take smile photos page.
- Write a short note. In a few sentences, describe what bothers you most, whether you have had orthodontic treatment before and how old you are.
- Send it via WhatsApp. Send the photos and your note to the clinic's WhatsApp line (0312 911 60 36).
- Wait for feedback. Once the orthodontist has reviewed the photos, you will receive a general assessment and a recommendation for an examination.
- Examination and digital scan. To decide on treatment, an examination at the clinic, any X-rays considered necessary and an intraoral digital scan are needed.
The 5 photos to take
- Front smile: Your face straight on, with a natural smile.
- Front, teeth together: A close-up of the front teeth with your back teeth closed and your lips parted.
- Right side: With the teeth together, from the right cheek, at an angle that shows the canine and back teeth.
- Left side: The same pose taken from the left side.
- Side profile of the face: Lips relaxed, your face fully side-on.
If you have a panoramic dental X-ray taken within the last year, you can add that too. When taking the photos, do not force your cheeks apart with a spoon or your fingers; parting your lips slightly is enough.
What can a preliminary assessment tell you?
- A general description of the crowding, gaps or bite visible in the photos
- Treatment options that could be discussed at the examination (such as clear aligners or fixed braces)
- Any preparations that may be needed before you come for the examination
What can it not tell you?
Photos do not show the tooth roots, the jawbone, gum health or the jaw joint. For this reason, a preliminary assessment does not give you a definite treatment plan, the number of aligners or the treatment time. Suitability for treatment and the plan are decided after a clinical examination, any X-rays considered necessary and a digital scan. You can read what happens at the examination on the orthodontic examination page.
Privacy
Send your photos only to the clinic's official WhatsApp line. The images you send are used only for the assessment and are not shared anywhere without your permission. For details, see the privacy notice (KVKK) page.
Frequently asked questions
Does an online preliminary assessment replace an examination?
No. A preliminary assessment is only a first opinion. An examination and a digital scan at the clinic are needed before treatment can start.
Can I send photos from abroad?
Yes. The clinic team can communicate in Turkish, English, German and Russian. To plan your trip to Türkiye, you may also want to look at the patients coming from abroad page.
Which phone should I use?
The camera of today's smartphones is good enough. What matters is good light, sharp focus and no filters.
