What is the TDB examination and treatment fee schedule?
Every year, the Turkish Dental Association (TDB) publishes the oral and dental health examination and treatment fee schedule that dentists apply. The schedule applies to all provinces and districts and lists the treatment items one by one. You can find the current schedule on the official TDB page. At our clinic, fees are set on the basis of this schedule.
How is orthodontics organised in the schedule?
In the orthodontics section of the schedule, treatments are listed as separate items depending on the situation in the mouth. Some of these items are:
- Diagnostic records: The examinations needed for treatment planning, such as cephalometric X-ray analysis, orthodontic photographs and model analysis.
- Treatment by type of bite problem: Orthodontic treatment of Angle Class I, Class II and Class III problems and open bite treatment are separate items. We explain what this classification means on the Class I, II and III bite page.
- Short-term and preventive treatments: There are separate items for limited corrections and for early treatment in children.
- Lingual technique: Treatments with brackets on the tongue side are listed separately.
- Appliances: Removable and fixed appliances, and treatments such as palatal expanders, are separate items.
- Retention: The retention phase after treatment and the making of retainers are listed separately.
How does the fee for your treatment become clear?
Which items in the schedule apply to your treatment depends on the type of bite problem, the treatment method chosen and the scope of treatment. For this reason, the fee becomes clear after the examination and once the treatment plan has been prepared. We explain the factors that affect the fee in detail on our what orthodontic treatment fees depend on page. Before treatment starts, the planned treatment, the expected duration and the fee are explained to you in detail; we answer your questions and give you time to decide.
Payment
You can ask about payment options at your appointment. If you have private health insurance, we recommend asking your insurer whether your policy covers orthodontics; for details, see the private health insurance and orthodontics page. If you are coming from abroad, please also check whether your insurer covers treatment in Türkiye.
What is discussed at the examination?
At the first examination, the inside of the mouth is examined, the necessary records are planned and the treatment options that suit you are discussed. To come prepared, the examination question list and the patient information forms may be helpful.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the fee for clear aligner treatment vary from person to person?
Because the scope of treatment varies from person to person. The complexity of the situation of the teeth and jaws, the treatment time and any additional stages that may be needed all affect the fee.
Can I find out the fee over the phone?
Because the scope of treatment cannot be determined without an examination, the exact fee is given after the examination and plan. Examination fees are also listed separately in the TDB schedule.
Does the TDB schedule change every year?
Yes. The TDB sets the schedule anew every year, and the new schedule usually applies from the start of the year.
